Assign breakout participants

I need specific students in each room for group critique. Assign Alice, Ben, Carlos, Diana, and Emma to Critique Room; assign Faisal, Grace, Hannah, Isaac, and June to Practice Room. Confirm each person is in the correct room and message the groups with the prompt: critique two slides and give one improvement each. Start the rooms for 12 minutes.

Before I assign participants to breakout rooms for peer review, make it easier for reviewers to evaluate groups. Group students by submitted draft topics so each room has complementary papers, surface any students who haven’t uploaded drafts, and flag potential conflicts—two students who asked not to be paired together—so I can adjust.

I just assigned groups for a role-play exercise but Maya is not showing in her assigned room and won’t join. I don’t know whether she’s disconnected, assigned elsewhere, or muted her joining option. How do I quickly diagnose where she is, what immediate steps get her into the right room, and how do I avoid this happening for the final two role-play rounds?

Each week I spend 6–8 minutes dragging latecomers or misassigned students into the right breakout rooms, which shrinks the activity time and frustrates students. Over the term I lose instructional minutes and authority. Which assignment practice or preset should I adopt so assignments are correct at the start and I don’t need to reassign in front of everyone?
