I need to share my entire screen for the product demo at 14:00 with the client. Start the meeting in Room 3, confirm screen sharing permissions, begin sharing the full desktop, pause notifications and hide my personal browser tabs, and stop sharing when I say ‘demo end’.

Before I share my screen with the client, make it safe and easy to follow: show the shared screen preview up front, mute notifications, include a visible ‘Stop sharing’ button, surface any permissions the client will need to allow remote control, and warn if system audio will be broadcast so I can mute background sounds.

I started the demo and realized a private chat and unrelated spreadsheet were visible on my desktop. I’m worried about privacy and the client’s impression, and I can’t tell whether they saw everything. What’s the best immediate recovery — do I stop sharing, apologize and explain, or keep going — and what steps prevent this next time so I never expose unintended windows during a client demo?

Every demo I lose flow because I switch between apps, reveal private info, or struggle to stop sharing quickly. This costs credibility with clients. Which procedural habit or setup change would most reliably prevent those stumbles — for example, dedicated demo desktops, running the demo from a single browser profile, or a checklist before sharing — and how do I enforce it with my team?
