'Wonderful Waste!' is a folk tale from Kerala about a Maharaja's large family. His many daughters-in-law cooked plenty of food every day and threw away the vegetable peels, leaves and scraps as waste. Only the youngest daughter-in-law disliked this wastefulness. She quietly collected the scraps, cleaned, chopped and dried them. When the Maharaja came to visit, she cooked a new and delicious dish from these very scraps. Everyone loved it and was surprised to learn it was made from 'waste'. The Maharaja praised her, teaching us that with care and imagination even waste can be turned into something wonderful.
