दो बिल्लियों को रोटी का एक टुकड़ा मिलता है और वे उस पर लड़ने लगती हैं। वे एक चतुर बंदर से रोटी बराबर बाँटने को कहती हैं। बंदर 'बराबर करने' के बहाने थोड़ा-थोड़ा खाता जाता है और अंत में पूरी रोटी खा जाता है। आपस में लड़ने के कारण दोनों बिल्लियों को कुछ नहीं मिलता।

Two cats find a piece of bread and fight over it. They ask a clever monkey to share it equally. The monkey keeps nibbling to 'make the pieces equal' and finally eats all the bread. The two cats lose everything because of their fighting.

When we fight among ourselves, a clever third person takes advantage and we both lose.
