Parent helping with homework.
Kid: "I don't know how to do this!"
Parent: "Here, let me show you." (Standard helpfulness).
Better Parent: "Take a guess. Even a wrong guess."
Kid: "Is it X?"
Parent: "Why do you think that?"
Parent lets the kid struggle for 2 minutes before helping. That struggle is the learning.
