हमसे सब कहते

इस कविता में एक छोटा बच्चा कहता है कि उसके आसपास के सब लोग उसे बार-बार बड़े बनने के लिए कहते हैं। बच्चा सोचता है कि वह बड़ा कैसे बनेगा — क्या खाना खाकर, दूध पीकर, अच्छी पढ़ाई करके, या बड़ों की बात मानकर? अंत में बच्चा खुशी-खुशी तय करता है कि वह बड़ा बनेगा और सबकी कही हुई अच्छी बातें मानेगा।

In this poem a small child says that everyone around him keeps telling him to grow up and become big. The child wonders how he can become big — will he grow by eating food, by drinking milk, by studying well, or by listening to the elders? At last he happily decides that he will grow up and will obey what everyone tells him to do.

A child learns that growing up means not just eating and drinking, but also studying well and obeying elders.
