एक दिन की बादशाहत

एक छोटा लड़का सपना देखता है कि वह केवल एक दिन के लिए बादशाह बन जाए ताकि वह किसी की बात माने बिना जो चाहे कर सके। उसकी कल्पना में उसकी इच्छा पूरी हो जाती है। पहले तो वह अजीब और मज़ेदार आदेश देकर मज़े करता है, पर जल्द ही उसके बिना सोचे आदेशों से हर जगह अव्यवस्था और परेशानी फैल जाती है। उसे न ढंग का खाना मिलता है, न खेलने के लिए साथी, और वह अकेला तथा थका हुआ महसूस करता है। दिन के अंत तक वह खुश होता है कि बादशाहत समाप्त हो गई और समझ जाता है कि अपने परिवार और दोस्तों के साथ बिताया उसका साधारण जीवन बादशाह बनने से कहीं अधिक सुखी है।

A little boy dreams of becoming a king for just one day so that he can do whatever he likes without listening to anyone. In his imagination his wish comes true. At first he enjoys giving strange and funny orders, but soon his thoughtless commands create confusion and trouble everywhere. He finds no proper food, no friends to play with and feels lonely and tired. By the end of the day he is glad the kingship is over and understands that his simple, ordinary life with his family and friends is much happier than being a king.

The story shows in a funny way that being a king is not as easy or happy as it seems, and that giving foolish orders only creates trouble. Our own simple, ordinary life is far more precious than imaginary power.
