Start at the level that matches what your child can already do, not their age. Most children move up a level every few months; some skip one entirely.
Knows each letter and the sound it makes, and can find that sound in a spoken word.
Tells apart sounds that are nearly the same — ship and sheep, bat and pat.
Reads and says around 1,700 everyday words, in English and Hindi.
Writes a word after hearing it once, and knows why it is spelt that way.
Reads a whole chapter of the school book and can say what happened in it.
Writes sentences that hold together, and knows the rule behind the correction.
This is a path through material a child works through themselves, with a parent nearby if they are young. Everything on it is free and always will be — there is no trial, no demo call and nothing to buy at the end.
If what you want is a live tutor on a video call who knows your child by name, that is a genuinely different thing and this is not a substitute for it.
