Embed a video

A client wants the keynote recorded and embedded in the deck. Embed the MP4 interview into slide 5 so it plays in-slide on click, set it to hide controls for a clean full-screen play, and save the file as ClientKeynote_WithVideo.pptx. Verify the file size stays under 250 MB and report if compression is needed.

Before I send this deck to the training team, make the embedded video easy to approve: ensure the first frame is a sensible poster image, crop the duration to remove a 30-second dead space at the start, warn if embedding will push the file over 300 MB, and list alternatives (link to hosted video or compressed embed) with pros and cons.

I put the recorded demo into slide 8 and the file jumped from 14 MB to 560 MB. The LMS rejects files over 500 MB and the training lead wants the video inside the deck to keep slides synced. I don’t know whether to compress, link out, or trim. What’s the best compromise that keeps playback reliable for attendees who may be offline, and what steps will preserve sync without bloating file size?

Across projects we repeatedly embed long videos and then miss LMS limits or email attachments, causing delivery delays. What policy and technical habit should we adopt to balance playback reliability, file size limits, and reviewer expectations so embedding becomes predictable and low-risk?
