सबसे अच्छा पेड़

चार दोस्त जंगल में घूमते हुए इस बात पर बहस करते हैं कि सबसे अच्छा पेड़ कौन-सा है। वे तीन पेड़ों से पूछते हैं। एक लंबा, मजबूत पेड़ कहता है कि वह सबसे बड़ा होने के कारण सबसे अच्छा है। एक फूलों वाला पेड़ कहता है कि वह सबसे सुंदर होने के कारण सबसे अच्छा है। पर एक फलदार पेड़ कहता है कि वह तो बस इतना जानता है कि वह बिना घमंड किए अपने फल, छाया और ठंडक सबको देता है। दोस्त तय करते हैं कि फलदार पेड़ ही सबसे अच्छा है, क्योंकि जो दूसरों को देता है और विनम्र रहता है, वही सचमुच सबसे महान होता है।

A flowering tree says it is the best because it is the prettiest. But a fruit tree says it only knows that it gives its fruit, shade and coolness to everyone without showing off. The friends decide that the fruit tree is the best, because the one who gives to others and stays humble is truly the greatest.

The best person (or tree) is not the one who is the biggest or prettiest, but the one who quietly gives to others and stays humble.
