   Weights are assigned to reflect the relative importance of each item (such as its share in consumption or expenditure), so that more important items influence the index more than less important ones, giving a more accurate measure of change. / भार प्रत्येक मद के सापेक्ष महत्व (जैसे उपभोग या व्यय में उसका हिस्सा) को दर्शाने हेतु दिए जाते हैं, ताकि अधिक महत्वपूर्ण मद सूचकांक को कम महत्वपूर्ण मदों की तुलना में अधिक प्रभावित करें, जिससे परिवर्तन का अधिक सटीक माप मिले।
