- Student membership of the Institute of Actuaries of India, the first step to becoming a qualified actuary through IAI's own professional exams. Some graduates (for example with ISI's B.Stat/M.Stat, certain actuarial diplomas, or papers passed with other actuarial bodies) can join directly without ACET.
- Who can sit
- Anyone who has passed Class 12 (or is awaiting the result) or any higher qualification, in any stream; a strong liking for mathematics and statistics is what matters.
- Pattern
- Online exam, 3 hours, 100 marks, 70 multiple-choice questions (45 of 1 mark, 20 of 2 marks, 5 of 3 marks): Mathematics 30 marks, Statistics 30, Data Interpretation 15, English 15, Logical Reasoning 10. No negative marking. Pass mark 50%.
- When
- Held more than once a year; the latest sitting announced is in early December (applications until early November, result mid-December).
- Limits
- No age or attempt limit is stated. A pass is valid for three years for taking IAI student membership.
