Know this. CEED only makes you eligible; each IIT's M.Des stream then runs its own studio test or interview, so a portfolio matters as much as the score.

- Admits you to
- M.Des programmes at IISc Bengaluru, IIT Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jodhpur, Kanpur, Roorkee and IIITDM Jabalpur and Kancheepuram, and Ph.D. in design at several IITs and design schools. Several other universities also use CEED results. Admitting institutes usually add their own tests or interviews.
- Who can sit
- A graduate degree, diploma or postgraduate degree of at least three years after Class 12 (or in its final year), or the GD Arts diploma (10+5 level). No age limit. Each admitting institute sets its own degree and discipline rules for M.Des.
- Pattern
- One paper in two parts. Part A (1 hour, 150 marks, computer-based): 8 numerical-answer questions (no negative marking), 10 multiple-select questions with partial marks, 26 MCQs (+3, -0.5). Part B (2 hours, 100 marks): five design, drawing and writing questions shown on screen and answered on paper. Part B is marked only for candidates shortlisted on their Part A score.
- When
- Usually a Sunday in mid-to-late January; results around March; institutes then run their own shortlists and interviews.
- Limits
- No age limit and no limit on attempts. The score is valid for one year.
