- Admits you to
- B.Sc Nautical Science, B.Tech Marine Engineering, Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS) and B.Tech Naval Architecture at IMU campuses and at DG Shipping–approved maritime training institutes, government or private. An IMU-CET rank is compulsory for B.Tech (ME), B.Sc (NS) and DNS at any DGS-approved institute. Separate IMU-CET papers cover IMU's MBA and M.Tech.
- Who can sit
- For B.Sc Nautical Science and B.Tech Marine Engineering: Class 12 with at least 60% average in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and at least 50% in English in Class 10 or 12 (5% PCM relaxation for SC/ST); unmarried. Maximum age for the nautical science degree on 1 August of entry: men 25 (OBC 28, SC/ST 30), women 27 (OBC 30, SC/ST 32). DG Shipping medical and eyesight standards also apply.
- Pattern
- UG technical paper: 200 multiple-choice questions on English, General Aptitude, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at Class 12 level, with 0.25 deducted per wrong answer. IMU may hold it at centres or in proctored online mode.
- When
- Applications usually around March–May; the test around late May or June; counselling from June to August for courses starting in August.
- Limits
- No attempt limit; the course age caps and the unmarried rule are the binding limits.
