Know this. IAT is the only admission channel to the IISERs; a JEE Advanced rank alone does not get you a seat, so you must register for IAT separately.

- The five-year BS-MS dual degree at the seven IISERs (Berhampur, Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram, Tirupati), plus four-year BS and B.Tech programmes at some of them. IISc Bengaluru's BS (Research), IIT Madras's BS and IIT Guwahati's BS in Biomedical Science and Engineering also admit through IAT.
- Who can sit
- Class 12 (or a 3-year diploma) passed in the current year or the two previous years, with at least 60% aggregate across all subjects (55% for SC, ST, PwD). For BS-MS you need at least three of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics in Class 12; Mathematics is compulsory for the data science, economics and B.Tech programmes.
- Pattern
- Computer-based test, 180 minutes, 60 multiple-choice questions: 15 each from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics (NCERT Class 11–12 level). +4 for a correct answer, -1 for a wrong one.
- When
- Applications around March–May; the test is usually in late May or June; counselling in June–July.
- Limits
- Eligible only in the year you pass Class 12 and the two years after; no age limit is set.
