ISI Admission Test

Admits you to

B.Stat (Hons) at Kolkata and B.Math (Hons) at Bengaluru, and ISI's master's programmes (M.Stat, M.Math, MS in Quantitative Economics, M.Tech in Computer Science, Cryptology, QROR and others) and JRF positions. The four-year B.SDS (Statistical Data Science) does not use this test; it admits on JEE Main or CUET-UG (Mathematics and English) scores.

Who can sit

B.Stat and B.Math: Class 12 (or equivalent) with Mathematics and English. Postgraduate programmes need a relevant bachelor's degree as set out programme by programme in the prospectus.

Pattern

For B.Stat and B.Math: two written tests on the same day in Mathematics at Class 12 level — a multiple-choice paper in the forenoon (UGA) and a descriptive paper in the afternoon (UGB). Admission is on the written tests. A handful of supernumerary seats go to INMO awardees through interview without the test. Postgraduate tests follow the same MCQ-plus-descriptive format at undergraduate level.

Usually on a Sunday in early-to-mid May; provisional admission rounds from about June to July.

Limits

No age or attempt limit is set for B.Stat or B.Math in the prospectus.
