About the author: Girija Kumar Mathur (1919-1994) was a celebrated Hindi poet, playwright and translator. Born in Ashoknagar (Madhya Pradesh), he was an important poet of the experimentalist (Prayogvad) and 'Nayi Kavita' movements in Hindi literature. He is especially remembered for giving Hindi readers a beautiful and faithful version of the famous American civil-rights anthem 'We Shall Overcome' as 'हम होंगे कामयाब एक दिन'.
