Class 7 · Hindi (Vasant) · Vasant · Poem

Overview

🧭 Message & Title

Message / Moral

The poem teaches us that true love and devotion fill the heart with joy and find God's presence in the beauty of everyday life — in a quiet morning, a churning gopi, falling raindrops or a cool breeze. Selfless love and surrender to the divine bring inner peace and happiness.

Justification of the Title

The title 'Bhor aur Barkha' (Morning and Rains) is apt because the lesson is made of two padas — one describing the 'bhor' (dawn) when Meera lovingly wakes Krishna, and the other describing the 'barkha' (rainy season of Sawan) in which she joyfully awaits him. Both times of nature become occasions for her devotion, so the title perfectly captures the two settings of the poem.

🪄 Literary Devices

Anupras (Alliteration) /

The repetition of similar sounds (as in 'umad-ghumad', 'jhar lavan') creates a pleasing musical effect typical of Meera's sung padas.

Punarukti Prakash (Reduplication) /

Words are repeated ('nanhi-nanhi', 'ghar-ghar', 'jay-jay') to emphasise smallness, abundance and intensity of feeling.

Manvikaran/Sanket (Personification of nature) /

Nature — clouds, rain and breeze — is described as pleasing and almost alive, sharing in the poet's joy and longing.

Chitratmakta (Imagery / Word-pictures) /

Vivid visual and auditory images — churning curd, jingling bangles, flashing lightning, falling drops — make the scenes come alive before the reader's eyes.

Bhanita / Chhap (Poet's signature) /
