Know this. Pick your five papers from the course list of the universities you want, not from your Class 12 subjects alone; a missing domain paper can make you ineligible for a course even with a high score.
- Run by
- National Testing Agency (NTA), Ministry of Education
- Admits you to
- Undergraduate admission to all Central Universities (such as Delhi University, BHU, JNU, Jamia) and to the many state, deemed and private universities that choose to participate. Each university sets which CUET subjects it needs for each course.
- Who can sit
- No age limit to sit the test. You must have passed Class 12 (or equivalent) or be appearing in the current year. Each university then applies its own eligibility (subjects, marks, and any age rule) for each programme.
- Pattern
- Computer-based test. 37 papers to choose from: 13 languages, 23 domain subjects (NCERT Class 12 syllabus) and a General Aptitude Test (general knowledge, current affairs, mental ability, numerical ability, logical reasoning). You may take up to five papers. Each paper has 50 compulsory questions in 60 minutes; +5 for a correct answer and -1 for a wrong one.
- When
- Usually in May, spread over two to three weeks in multiple shifts; results in July, then each university runs its own admission portal (for example DU's CSAS).
- Limits
- No age limit and no cap on attempts set by NTA; you can sit again in a later year as long as you meet the university's own rules.
