About the author: Sumitranandan Pant (1900-1977) was one of the greatest poets of modern Hindi literature and a leading figure of the Chhayavad movement. Born in Kausani in Uttarakhand amid the beauty of nature, his poetry is filled with the loveliness of nature, gentle feelings and human emotions. He received the Jnanpith Award for his collection 'Chidambara'. In this poem he expresses the world through the innocent heart of a small child.
